Confessions Of A Client Whisperer

Confessions Of A Client Whisperer

Many of my client meetings are more like therapy than financial planning sessions.

There is so much negativity out there.

Anxiety and concern about the financial markets, wealth disparity, inflation, uncivil politics, loss of human rights like abortion access and anti-LGBTQ legislation, climate change, gun violence, and uncertainty about our country’s future.

It's one thing after another.

And it's really affecting people.

It is affecting me.

Negative emotions can fool us the most.

Negative perspectives are misleading, and I am here to tell you that you don’t need to give in to them.

I don't want to minimize the serious things happening in the world, but none of us has control over these larger economic and societal issues.

What you DO have, however, is control to make positive decisions to help you live your best life.

I make a conscious effort every day to focus on the positive ways I can help my clients and share resources and solutions to empower and inspire them.

As a financial advisor, I have investment options that address fear and worry.

There are money managers—and we work with them—that will reduce risk automatically by getting out of the market and going to cash—meaning they will sell of stock market investments and convert it to money to minimize losses. This may give you more confidence.

We also plan for other risks, based on your feedback, concerns, and risk tolerance.

It may include putting less money in the market, or more conservative or guaranteed investments.

It’s important to keep in mind that historically the market has ups and downs and that ultimately it will be OK.

It's just a fact that markets have ups and downs—and always will.

Volatility and market corrections are part of the equation.

My job is to ensure you plan for all types of markets to minimize damage and have your portfolio meet your needs in the long run.

There are always money management solutions to get you back on the right path.

Getting back on a positive path amidst uncertainty in other aspects of life takes a more mindful effort.

I am committed to sharing my perspectives and recommendations to help you to move forward empowered, informed, and living with positive intentions.

It is OK to not feel OK about everything …

… but know that you have the power to live the best life you can despite what's happening in the larger world.

Just knowing that can make a big difference.
