Overview & Objectives

As I’ve stated in another lesson:

“Money is power … and we need to use it wisely.”

And the LGBTQ+ community has immense financial power—with close to $1.4 trillion in spending power annually in the U.S.

Companies are target marketing the LGBTQ+ community— asking for our dollars so we want to make sure they are living up to diversity, equity, and inclusion in their business practices.

The LGBTQ+ business community is becoming more organized and visible. All of this has sadly caused a backlash—which we’ll discuss in these lessons.

And, a good sign for the future, these numbers are growing as each generation becomes more accepting and self-identifies more openly.

Despite the political and societal challenges and backlash facing the LGBTQ+ community today, using the power of our queer dollars to push back against unjust laws and discrimination is a powerful way to use our money to speak out loud and proud.

In this series of empowering lessons, you’ll:

  • Gain a deeper understanding of your specific money behaviors and biases
  • Learn about the latest challenges and opportunities in investing according to your values in ESG (Environmental, Sustainable, and Governance) and DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion)
  • Become more empowered to make positive financial decisions in a world overwhelmed by toxic news and negativity.
