As of today, the U.S. federal government is still shut down with no end in sight. 41% of Americans believe the federal shutdown will last for two weeks or less. Another 22% expect the shutdown to last three or four weeks. (YouGov survey, 10/3/25)

No matter how long the shutdown lasts, it will have short- and long-term effects on our economy. 

What will happen between now and next Tuesday? Who knows?
