Description

Join David Traupman, Communications Director and La Vida Pride LGBTQ+ Support Initiative at Treece Fi, for a fun morning of catch-up, conversation, and community-building activities at The Pride Center at Equality Park's weekly Coffee & Conversation. David will be the guest speaker and share excerpts and tips from David Treece's book, Take Pride in Your Money: LGBTQ+ Financial Empowerment Stories & Strategies.

Why the Book? Why Now?

David wrote Take Pride in Your Money to teach proven financial strategies and share real-world stories from his 35 years of providing advice and advocacy LGBTQ+ clients.

Why LGBTQ+ Financial Planning Demands a Different Approach: The first section of this book focuses on the political and societal challenges the LGBTQ+ community faces, and how they affect financial planning and security.

  • LGBTQ+ distrust of financial planning industry: “55% of LGBTQ+ Americans said they had been subject to discrimination within the financial services, banking, or investment industries.”
  • In today’s changing LGBTQ+ landscape, the LGBTQ+ community can’t count on institutions, laws, or corporations to have their backs.
  • Trust is the foundation of any good financial plan. And trust requires representation, empathy, and understanding.

How to Build Financial Strength in a Changing LGBTQ+ Landscape: Using real-world scenarios of how financial planning is concretely different for LGBTQ+ people, this book’s section is designed to help LGBTQ+ people (and their financial advisors) take action to strengthen and protect their financial security.

Attend to learn why this book is a call to empower our queer dollars to protect ourselves, each other, and our community.
