What happens to desire when the body changes? Is it still OK to want? How do we talk about sex, touch, and pleasure when facing serious illness or the end of life?

Queer people have always had to fight to have our relationships, bodies, and pleasure recognized as valid. A life-limiting diagnosis can make those conversations even harder. Medical systems often ignore sexuality. Caregivers may feel unsure. Partners may be afraid to ask. And many of us are left wondering: Is it still okay to want?

This session creates space for honest, affirming dialogue about sexual intimacy, functioning, touch, identity, and desire while living with serious illness or approaching the end of life. We’ll explore communication tools, shifting bodies, consent, adaptive practices, emotional closeness, and how to honor pleasure and connection as part of whole-person care.

Facilitator Sarah Miller, Hospice Chaplain, will explore these topics from an LGBTQ+ perspective in a safe and supportive space.
