Money Can't Buy Holiday Spirit

As a financial advisor, many of my communications revolve around the all-important almighty dollar.

But as the holidays begin in earnest, I wanted to share a thought that recently resonated with me  ...

the true gifts of this season cost nothing.

In that spirit, here's my list of no-cost activities I hope to complete this December. I thought I’d share it with you in case you’re inclined to join me:

Forgive a small thing. Did someone cut in line while holiday shopping or say something harsh in the heat of the moment? Choose kindness and grace and forgive (if not forget). It’s a gift to that person–and to yourself–as a new year begins.

Host a movie night with your cherished ones.  Technology even makes it possible for people in other areas to join in on the viewing fun!

Connect with someone new. This time of year can be hard for many people. Spread joy and expand your circle by inviting someone new into your circle.

Record family (or community) history. Older generations have so much life lived and wisdom earned to share. Give future generations a window into the past by interviewing those they may not get to meet. Grab a video recorder or your smartphone, come up with some questions, and let the conversation flow from there!

Tell someone how much they mean to you. It’s so easy to get busy and take people’s support for granted. Take a moment to show someone how much you value them.

Personally, I think this list is going to make this the best month of the year and put me in the right frame of mind heading into 2023.

Let me know if you have additional ways to make the spirit of this season shine brighter.

In the meantime, I and my staff wish you and your loved ones a holiday season rich with what matters most.

David
